1. Starting the Holistic Journey - Introductions: Orientation to Holistic Curriculum.  Expectations: Course Objectives, Learning Partners, Team Presentations, What is Holistic Curriculum? Readings, Meditation Journals, Reflection, Holistic Educator's ToolKit/Treasure Chest
2. Holistic dialogues and Images; Meditation Techniques; Learning Partners Meet
Weeks Three and Four
3.Metaphors for Holistic Curriculum:  Creative Visualization.
Symbols and Sacred Places, Teams form and meet 
4. Connecting: Illustrated teaching stories 
Quotations/ Affirmations/Surprise Stories
Teams meet to create criteria for presentations.  Work on format and activities for Presentations. Choose Ram Dass or Allen Gardens as external assignment
Weeks Five and Six
5. Dr. Anne Mulvaney - Psychosynthesis Workshop
6. Memories, Mentors & Models; Treasure maps
Midway: Reflections on course/readings/
(check meditation journals)
Weeks Seven and Eight
7. Playback Theatre. 
Check progress for partnered readings, projects, tool kits.
8. Teams finalize work on presentations
Weeks Nine and Ten
1.Mountain and Sea Teams present 
2.Island & Meadow Teams present
Weeks Eleven and Twelve
1. Partners give reports on readings - Share tool kits/treasure chests
(may include Haikus, Garden Trip Collages)
(check meditation journals)
2. Course Wrap Up/Feedback
Journals returned. Reflective Papers Due

 

External Activities (choose one)
Viewing the film "Fierce Grace" about Ram Dass and writing a haiku http://astralsite.com/holistic/haiku.html to express your response. 
Share your haiku in class. This activity requires arranging to see the DVD with the Media desk on the 3rd floor. (1 hour 20 minutes). 
Field trip to Allen Gardens: find a plant that is "you" to create a collage capturing the essence of this choice. Photos may be taken with your plant (at least one with you and your plant). Most fun done with others. Shared in class.
