
Sessional Lecturer II, Selia teaches (online), Holistic Approaches to Information Technology and Foundations of Curriculum. She also teaches The Holistic Curriculum course in the Curriculum Teaching and Learning Department at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto where she completed her doctoral work in Computer Applications and Holistic and Aesthetic Studies in 1999. She is also Web Mistress and an active member of the Holistic Educator Group at OISE/UT and an editor of Holistic Learning and Spirituality in Education published in 2005.
As a professor, she won both provincial and international awards for outstanding contributions to teaching and learning with technology and for innovative excellence. She continues to have a special interest in cultivating student creativity and promoting self-actualization. She graduated with high honours from the Designing Curriculum Using Instructional Technology Certificate Program at Seneca College in 2004. She has been a full time student in the three year Adult Program at The Art Centre since the fall of 2007.
Through Karsten Productions she has produced on-line learning modules for McGraw-Hill Ryerson and Thomson Nelson Learning. At Astralsite.com she builds websites for educators, artists and caregivers. Selia's background includes directing, producing, designing, writing and performing in the theatre, video production, multimedia, life skills counseling and career development, prior learning assessment, and alternate modes of course delivery. Her interests span photography, writing, graphics, languages, martial arts, scuba diving and travel.
